Perselus-Thestral by ElkStarRanchArtwork Perselus-Thestral by ElkStarRanchArtwork
part of my trade with *perselus her very own thestral! This fellow has ears unlike the others I have done - I was testing some things out.

Like the others he is made from the BONES McCOY resin by Candace Liddy with wings by me, sculpy eyes by me and painted and haired.

Hope you like him Perselus!

I bought a resin casting that is no longer being made (search Candace Liddy resins) for the form, then the made the wings of hard plastic. You might look for skeleton resins on Etsy or Ebay to use for a form - or sculpt it yourself from apoxie sculpt or sculpey?

Cool! This is very close to how I imagine thestrals look. This is the first time I have seen another artist portray them as actual skeletons, and not just really anorexic-looking (I haven't seen the fifth Harry Potter movie, so I don't know how they were portrayed in that).

You did a great job of making it look creepy. The wispy mane is an important factor, I think.

thank you so much and your picture is great! The movie had them looking like crosses between dragons and horses. I was not impressed. Thank you so much for the :+fav:

Well, looks like a mere skeleton, don't know how that thing could be alive, I was expecting some piece of skin on those bones, but as an artwork it's great, beautifully done. How tall is it?

It's about 4.5 inches tall.

These are living creatures though and they eat right? They are just really really scrawny, this one should have more than just bones. Really cool though :-)
