Siadhan

Nyx smelled the dankness of the forest as she and the foal stepped through the portal. She turned to observe his reaction. It was unflailing as always. He never showed fear. His black tail stood up on end in anticipation. She recalled her eldest son Kael calling it scary hair. Siadhan had laughed and Kael called him Scary from then on. Only Kael was allowed to call him that though.

Nyx took a breath and froze, moving instantly to block Siadhan from the threat. She was by the lake with the giant green water horse, Glaistig. Her red hair stark in the darkness. She spoke softly, words Nyx did not understand, turned with agile grace for a two-legged and landed on the water horse's back. He nodded once to Nyx and lunged into the waters of the the Black Lake with his burden.

Riabhach appeared a moment later from the Dark Forest. Nyx snorted distastefully, still watching the ripples in the water.

"Will he eat her?" asked Siadhan.

"No," Riabhach laughed, "Glaistig has known her far longer than I. He was respecting your mother's wish that no two-legged be here."

"I have never understood your fascination with two-leggeds, Riabhach."

He shrugged a shoulder and walked closer. Nyx moved so that he could see their son.

"He calls himself Siadhan. He will not tell me the meaning."

Riabhach looked at her, "He fears that you will think him like the other. The son you do not think of willingly."

Nyx turned lavender eyes to the colt and felt his mind touch hers just like his father's always did, "I am sorry mother. I do not want to be bad."

"What does it mean?" she asked sternly.

Siadhan backed away a step and turned first a lavender eye then a blue eye to his sire. Riabhach nodded at the thought the colt shared only with him.

"It means Chaos. He is opposites, air and earth. He feels jumbled at times, in chaos, he thought the name appropriate. He says his brother Kael calls him Scary."

Nyx sighed, "Kael knows the meaning?"

Riabhach and the colt nodded in unison. Nyx swished her misty tail in aggitation.

"Boys will be boys. I assume Kael's acceptance of him means he is not like the other. Do not worry Nyx. Come colt, let me look at you."

Siadhan stepped forward and stood under his sire's scrutiny. Aware that he carried traits of both his parents and then some that were his alone. He could control air and earth like his mother, but his earth hooves were cloven like his sire's while his air hooves were gold but solid, opposites. He had a tiger-marked coat that came from neither of them but he had subtle brindling that would have come from his sire. His gold horn glowed like his sire's. He looked at his mother with the lavender eye like hers and at his sire with the blue eye like his. His tail, like the tigering, did not come from either of them.

"He carries many traits of both of us and then he has his own," Riabhach replied, "and I see great things for him. Do not worry Nyx. Come, let's go show him the Forest. His brothers here are interested in seeing him."

The group moved towards teh trees, Siadhan marching ahead, eager to see this place of his father's and the ones that shared the forest with him.

This is Siadhan, first-born of my Riabhach and !Nyxen's Nyx.

He is a Breyer Classic Warmblood (1/12th scale) customized by me with newly sculpted mane and forelock, haired tail, added horn, added goatee. He is grey like his mother with black tiger markings that were his own with subtle brindling. He is erath and air - His earth legs have brown, cloven hooves. His air legs have gold, solid hooves. He has one lavender eye and one blue eye.

He is done in gray primer, gray pastel, black colored pencil, black acrylic, copper brown acrylic, metallic blue acrylic, and copper and blue pearl-ex.

His name is Scots-Gaelic for Chaos.
